Maths - Caterpillar Counting and Lengths
As you can see Ellie has used her fingers to make the body and the head of the hungry Caterpillar ? and as he eats.... he's growing bigger, and bigger and longer and longer!! Wow...he will be MASSIVE!!
Why don't you have a go at making your caterpillars and counting out the body dots as you add more and more. When joining in this learning opportunity, talk about the length, like Ellie's examples of shorter, longer, medium size. See if your children can work out which one is the longest or shortest? Encourage 1:1 counting when adding the dots to the body. How long can your caterpillar grow? Can you add your caterpillars together? Making them into another maths adding and taking away learning opportunity!
