📋 Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plans
For children with significant and complex needs that cannot be met through SEN support alone, we work with families and the local authority to request an EHC needs assessment.
What is an EHC Plan?
An EHC plan is a legal document that sets out a child's education, health and care needs, and the support required to meet those needs.
When We Consider an Assessment
We would consider requesting an EHC needs assessment when your child:
- Has significant and complex needs
- Is not making expected progress despite targeted support and specialist involvement
- Requires support beyond what we can provide through SEN support
How We Support the Process
During the assessment:
- We work with you to gather evidence of your child's needs
- We provide detailed information about progress, interventions and outcomes
- We include reports from all professionals who work with your child
- We value your views as parents/carers - you know your child best
If an EHC plan is issued:
- We follow the provision outlined in the plan
- We work closely with external specialists
- We provide additional adult support as specified
- We complete six-monthly reviews of learning outcomes with you
- We hold annual reviews with you and the local authority
We remain committed to working in partnership with you throughout this process.
